Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

Overview

FreediveLog (“we”, “us”) is a personal freediving logbook. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the service, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and a hashed password. We do not store your password in plain text.

Dive log data: information you enter about your sessions, such as date and time, discipline, depth, duration, dive type, location, buddy, water conditions, equipment details, ratings, and notes.

Technical data: basic server and security logs needed to run and protect the service (for example IP address used for rate limiting sign-in attempts). We do not use advertising trackers on the app for marketing profiles.

How we use your information

To create and secure your account, and to keep you signed in.

To store and display your dive logbook, dashboard statistics, and personal bests.

To operate, maintain, and improve the reliability and security of the service.

To communicate with you about the service if needed (for example account or security issues).

Cookies and sessions

We use session cookies (and related authentication tokens) so you can stay signed in. These are required for the logged-in parts of the app to work.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Where your data is stored

Your account and dive data are stored in a cloud database (Neon Postgres) used to power the application.

The website may be hosted on infrastructure providers such as Vercel. Those providers process data only to host and deliver the service.

Depending on where you are and where our providers operate, your data may be processed in the United States or other countries with different data-protection laws.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or dive logs.

We share data only with service providers that help us run the product (for example hosting and database), under obligations to keep it secure and use it only for those purposes.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the service and its users.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account and dive data while your account is active.

If you want your account and associated dive data deleted, contact us using the details below. We will delete your account data within a reasonable time, except where we must retain limited records for security, legal, or operational reasons.

Security

We use industry-standard practices such as password hashing and encrypted connections (HTTPS) to help protect your information.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove the data.

Your choices

You can update dive entries you have logged, and you can sign out at any time.

You may request access to or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

If you are in a region with additional privacy rights (for example the EEA or UK), you may also have rights to correct data, restrict processing, or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
